Note MeI don't make New Year Resolutions. I don't believe in them. You either want to do something or you don't. Resolutions are generally empty, so I haven't made one since I was probably about 10 years old. However, that doesn't mean I don't look to the New Year as a clean slate to possibly do something great or help someone else do something great.
I have things I'm looking forward to such as my cousin's wedding in the spring and my nieces getting older and my daughter graduating 8th grade and go onto high school. Gah, I cannot believe I'm not old enough to have a daughter that old, but I do...you can see her dressed as a murder victim in my saved pictures. Yep, that's her, isn't she precious?
Last year my brother and I decided to add to the podcasting world with our own movie podcast called Movie Sponge; however by the end of the year it became a lot of work to keep up with and felt out in limbo unattached to a blog. I didn't/don't have time for a consistent blog - heck I don't even regularly post here. LoL So, after much thought and discussion we decided it was time to put that project to rest; especially in the wake of my other interests taking over.
My focus this year is writing. I write with a few people on an RP message board, which is highly enjoyable and depending on which writer I'm creating with challenges me to be a better writer. However, I have neglected a lot of my own personal projects. I am changing that by joining with a couple of friends and creating a writing circle. Every two weeks we'll be sharing parts of our work. This is a great motivation to get back to the novel I started a year and half ago. As I polish up what I have I plan to submit chapters here.
I have another friend starting up a book club, which has me excited, I love to read and have always thought this would be fun to do among friends. I look forward to our first novel, which I hope she picks soon.
These two opportunities came about at the same time leading me to believe that it is time to focus a little more on my creative side. Time to put away the TV shows I don't really care about and only watch the ones I feel are worth that bit of time. It's not always easy to give up TV because I do so love the medium much like movies, but more and more the shows are shallow and worthless. I also enjoy having an opinion on a popular show when in conversation at a party or with a few friends. Still, my brain is important to me and when I feel myself losing smart cells I must turn them off.
I have a good feeling about 2010. I plan to keep a positive view and look for opportunities to expand my world with knowledge.
